Final Grade Calculator
Enter your current grade, what the final is worth, and the grade you want — see exactly what you need to score.
The formula
needed = (target − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight, with weight as a fraction. Example: current 78%, final worth 40%, target 80% → (80 − 78 × 0.6) ÷ 0.4 = 83% on the final.
Frequently asked questions
What if the answer is over 100%?
The target isn't reachable with the final alone (unless there's extra credit). The "best possible" stat shows the highest course grade a perfect final would give you — pick a target at or below that.
What counts as my "current grade"?
Your weighted average on everything graded so far, out of the non-final portion. Most course portals show this number directly.
The final replaces my lowest test — does this still work?
Not directly; replacement policies change the math. Compute both scenarios (with and without the dropped test) and use the better one.
