How the calculators are built

ProgramTalk is an independently run project, not a medical or financial institution. Calculators that produce health or financial figures — like the BMI, calorie and mortgage calculators — use standard, publicly documented formulas (for example, the WHO BMI classification and the standard loan amortization formula), not proprietary or invented math. Each formula is cross-checked against a reference calculator before publishing, and every tool page names the method it uses. These tools are built for quick estimates and planning, not as a substitute for professional medical or financial advice.
