How the cost is calculated

For L/100 km: litres = distance × consumption ÷ 100. For km/L: litres = distance ÷ consumption. For MPG: gallons = miles ÷ MPG, priced per gallon. Multiply the fuel amount by the price and you have the trip cost — tolls and wear not included.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use round-trip distance?

Enter the total distance you'll actually drive. For a there-and-back trip, double the one-way distance before entering it.

My car shows consumption in MPG — which gallon?

The MPG option assumes US gallons (3.785 L), the convention on US window stickers. UK MPG uses the larger imperial gallon, so a UK car's number will look about 20% better for the same car.

How do I find my car's real consumption?

Fill the tank, reset the trip meter, drive normally, refill and divide: litres refilled ÷ trip distance × 100 gives real-world L/100 km — usually 10–20% above the brochure figure.
