About shutter count metadata
Some cameras store the mechanical shutter actuation count inside proprietary MakerNote EXIF fields. Other cameras omit it, strip it during export, or encode it in a model-specific way. This checker looks for common count fields and also shows camera, lens, exposure, date, and image metadata that can be read from standard EXIF.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my image show no shutter count?
Many edited or resized images lose MakerNote data. Try an original file straight from the camera card. If the camera brand stores shutter count in a proprietary format, a desktop brand-specific tool may still be needed.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The file is parsed with browser APIs on your device.
Which files work best?
Original JPEG or TIFF files from DSLR and mirrorless cameras usually contain the richest EXIF data. Screenshots and phone images may not contain shutter count fields.
