What is EXIF data?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata your camera embeds in every photo: make and model, lens, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, the exact capture time, and — if location services were on — GPS coordinates. This viewer reads the EXIF block directly from the file bytes, so nothing is sent to any server.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my photo show no EXIF data?
Social networks and messaging apps (Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp) strip metadata on upload, and screenshots never had any. Exported web images are often stripped too.
Should I worry about GPS data in my photos?
If you share original files publicly, yes — embedded GPS reveals where the photo was taken, which may be your home. Check files with this tool before sharing, and strip metadata when needed.
Which RAW formats work?
Any TIFF-based RAW: Adobe DNG, Nikon NEF, Canon CR2, Sony ARW, and others. HEIC and Canon CR3 use a different container and are not supported here.
