Lossless metadata removal

Most metadata removers re-encode your image, quietly degrading quality. This tool works at the byte level instead: it walks the JPEG segments (or PNG chunks) and copies everything except the metadata blocks — EXIF and XMP (APP1), IPTC/Photoshop (APP13), and comments in JPEGs; text, EXIF, and timestamp chunks in PNGs. The compressed image data is untouched, so quality is identical. Color profiles (ICC) are kept so colors don't shift.

What exactly gets removed?

Camera make and model, lens, exposure settings, capture date, software history, author/copyright text, thumbnails, and — most importantly — embedded GPS coordinates.

Why should I strip metadata before sharing?

Original photos often embed the exact GPS position where they were taken. Sharing an unstripped photo of your home, workplace, or children can reveal locations you'd rather keep private.

Is this really lossless?

Yes. Unlike tools that redraw the image on a canvas, the compressed pixel data is copied verbatim. You can verify with a checksum of the decoded image, or check the file with our EXIF Viewer before and after.
