Salary to Hourly Converter

Turn an annual salary into an hourly rate — or an hourly wage into a yearly figure — using your actual working hours.

Handy rule of thumb

At 40 hours and 52 weeks (2,080 hours a year), hourly ≈ annual ÷ 2,000 — so a 60,000 salary is about 30/hour, and a 25/hour job is about 50,000 a year. This tool does it exactly, and lets you adjust for part-time hours or unpaid weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Is this before or after tax?

It converts whatever you enter — pay figures are normally quoted gross (before tax), so the results are gross too. Your take-home pay depends on your tax situation.

How should I count vacation?

If you're salaried with paid vacation, keep 52 weeks — you're paid year-round. For contract or hourly work with unpaid time off, lower the "paid weeks" — a freelancer taking 4 unpaid weeks works 48.

Why does the monthly figure look odd?

Months aren't 4 weeks long. The monthly value here is the annual total divided by 12 — which is how employers prorate salaries — not weekly pay times four.
