Frequently asked questions
What's the quick mental trick for °C to °F?
Double the Celsius value and add 30. It's not exact (the true factor is 1.8 and offset 32), but it's within a couple of degrees across everyday weather temperatures.
Why does Kelvin have no degree sign?
Kelvin is an absolute scale that starts at absolute zero (0 K = −273.15 °C), so values are just "kelvins", not "degrees". A step of 1 K equals a step of 1 °C.
At what temperature are Celsius and Fahrenheit equal?
At −40. It's the one point where both scales read the same: −40 °C = −40 °F.
