How it works

Pick a difficulty, press Start, and solve problems one at a time for sixty seconds. Easy sticks to addition and subtraction within 20; medium adds times tables up to 12 × 12; hard mixes three-digit addition and subtraction with whole-number multiplication and division. Type your answer and press Enter to submit — there's no separate submit button, so keep your hands on the number keys. Each correct answer is worth one point, and every fifth correct answer in a row without a miss adds a bonus point on top. A wrong answer breaks your streak and costs you a second off the clock, so guessing wildly is worse than pausing half a beat to get it right. The timer keeps running the whole time, and the round ends the instant it hits zero.

Is my best score saved?

Yes — your highest score is saved locally in your browser and will still be there next time you load the page on the same device. It only updates when a finished round beats your current best, so an average round won't overwrite a strong one. Clearing your browser's site data or switching browsers/devices resets it, since nothing is stored on a server.

Does mental arithmetic practice help?

Yes — regular short sessions measurably improve calculation speed and number sense, and that carries over to everyday tasks like tipping, splitting a bill, or sanity-checking a spreadsheet formula. The value comes from repetition under light time pressure, which is exactly what a sixty-second sprint provides. A minute or two a day is enough to notice a difference within a couple of weeks.

What's a good score?

On medium difficulty, 25 or more correct answers in the sixty seconds is a solid result, and 40+ is excellent — that works out to roughly one answer every 1.5 seconds including the bonus points from streaks. On easy expect higher raw counts since the problems are simpler; on hard expect lower counts since division and three-digit arithmetic take longer to work out in your head.
